Weighing under 3 pounds, this compact furnace is a breeze to install on one of the walls of the doghouse. After drilling a hole through the wall, simply run the power cord through, and then use the supplied mounting plate to adhere the heater to the wall. Depending on where you live, the device may have to run nonstop for weeks—or months—at a time. No one wants to spend an exorbitant amount of money heating their own home, let alone their dog’s house. A heater’s efficiency depends on a number of variables, including its power source, size, materials, controls, and cycling habits. Safety is the single most important feature to consider when evaluating doghouse heaters.

Add a heating pad.

Ensure the dog house is sheltered from harsh winds and positioned in an area that does not get flooded or exposed to extreme weather conditions. Dogs with thick or double-layer coats may also be well-suited to colder temperatures. For example, Huskies, Saint Bernards, and Malamutes are specifically bred to thrive in cold, harsh climates.

The fabric dog house is best used for travel, camping and for light outdoors/indoors use. It’s easy to set up without any tools, often folding down and sliding snugly into a lightweight travel case. This small sized dog house is your quality answer to something basic that can go indoors and outdoors while adding a stylish look to your home.

This dog house is pricey, and some buyers have trouble assembling the house. Considering the price, it may not be constructed well, and the heater may not last. However, if you’re in the market for a heated dog house, this is the best-heated dog house for the money.

Raised Flooring

The inside measures 38 inches in diameter with a maximum height of 39.5 inches, making it perfect for smaller dogs to enjoy with their doggie companions. Try this heated pad boasting water-resistant orthopedic foam that dries quickly and can weather any elements that come its way. There are a variety of ways that different types and sizes of houses on the market handle heating, but whatever else is true about them, safety is of preeminent importance.

Besides looking classy and stylish, wood dog houses are also heavy duty (opt for cedar or fir wood). You want to make sure they are weatherproof with a non-toxic coating or an asphalt roof. Ceiling-mounted heat lamps for dog houses can be installed to provide radiant warmth. Ensure they are securely mounted and out of your dog’s reach to prevent accidents.

The removable raised floor and open-up roof with pneumatic braces makes it easy to clean. Asphalt shingles and stainless steel hardware give it winter durability. This pad from K&H is the perfect heating solution for an igloo-style dog house. It is easy to fit through the pad of any enclosure and available in three different sizes to fit whatever size of igloo you have at home. The pad gives your pup the choice to be on or off it, taking up half the size of the igloo with its half-round shaper.

You will have to add your own insulation, such as foam, heater box or a heating pad if you plan to use this outdoors during winter. Consider the option that offers temperature control through a thermostat to prevent the house from overheating. Also, provide enough space in the dog house for your pet to escape the heat source if they feel uncomfortable. It comes with a heating pad that covers half of the area, which helps your dog to move around in case they feel uncomfortable due to excessive heat. This bed has undergone rigorous testing by MET labs and is super safe for your pets.

Since prompt intervention is essential for combatting hypothermia and ensuring a full recovery, all pet owners should familiarize themselves with the warning signs of hypothermia. Once you’re well-versed in the ins and outs of doghouse heaters, you can install the right unit for your needs with total peace of mind. For help getting started, here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about this essential pet appliance. This adorable house has removable door flaps to allow for easy entry and exit.

While you're at it, be sure the door of the house is protected from (or at least turned away from) chilly winds. Heated doghouses are best used when a person is also outside, especially during the day, says Klein. “There is a saying that if the weather is too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for animals for any extended period of time and they should be brought inside,” Klein says. Built from thick plastic and fortified with serious, industrial-grade insulation (2-4 inches thick), there’s little risk of your dog getting chilly even without the built-in central heater.

The heater is compact and lightweight, so you can carry it easily from your dog house to any other room if necessary. This heater comes with a built-in thermostat as well but you cannot control the unit through it. While we did find this heater helpful for somewhat cold weather, we've checked with other pet owners and some claimed that the heater can become too hot and thus dangerous. There were also some reports of the heater getting broken after short use. The heater is compact and lightweight and you can use it indoors as well. You can mount this unit on the wall or simply place it somewhere in the dog house since it can stand up on its own.

Since the actual unit can get hot to the touch, though, you have to be sure to install it well out of reach of your dogs. Since it’s so powerful, you can even place the heater safely outside of the doghouse, heating both the interior and a small area outside. Even if you end up installing a traditional furnace in the doghouse, it’s worth getting this bed, too, as your best friend ages. Orthopedic beds offer a host of benefits for senior dogs because they provide exceptional joint support. Coupled with the radiating heat, which relieves pain and stiffness, this pet bed ensures even dogs with arthritis find a comfortable position.

The cubic footage is an important factor to take into account, and there are many dog house designs available in various sizes to suit different breeds. If you are thinking of adding a separate heater in the dog house, ensure that the heater provides adequate coverage without causing overheating. If you are looking to install a heater for your dog house, this Akoma Hound Heater is an excellent option. Raising your doghouse off the ground by a few inches will give you a climate control solution in both hot summers and cold winters. During cold months, stuff the space between the ground and the doghouse floor with straw or hay. Note, do not use hay or straw inside the house, only outside, as these materials can serve as habitat for fleas or mites. Plan to replace the exterior insulation as needed—it will start to decompose once it gets wet. Heating pads can give a little boost of warmth to an existing doghouse, or comfort an old dog or a new litter of puppies inside your home.

The heater is very similar to the best dog house heater above from Hound Heater. It follows the same installation process, which can be a hassle but it was actually pretty simple on the second try, and the instructions are included. The unit came with a built-in thermostat that allows you to set the preferred temperature and turns the heater off when it achieves it. Speaking of the price, if you shop on a budget, a dog house heater's cost is an important factor to consider.

These affordable bulbs emit infrared heat instead of light to provide a continuous supply—up to 10,000 hours—of warmth. If we could make one improvement, however, we would add an internal fan. Without it, warm air doesn’t always circulate evenly throughout the entire doghouse. Instead, the area closest to the heater tends to be a few degrees warmer than the space on the other side of the structure. After conducting extensive research, we’ve found the best doghouse heaters on the market so your pups will stay comfy and cozy all winter long.

Listlessness and lethargy will develop as body temperature drops further. Use the high setting (1,500 W) in frigid temperatures and the low setting (750 W) on milder days. Unfortunately, there is no setting in between, and the settings can’t be calibrated.

Keeping the dog house clean for your pooch is essential and will encourage him to use it more than not. Our favorite heated dog house is the Dog Palace Insulated Dog House, which has robust and eco-friendly insulation, comprehensive heating technology, and good overall habitability. There are also space heaters and heated mats designed just for dogs, which can be easily combined with your dog’s favorite at-home domicile. It doesn’t quite do it – but it’s a nice way to make a smooth scalloped edge, if that’s what you’re looking for. I padded underneath the satin stitches, split stitching along the round edge of the scallop and working long horizontal stitches inside it. The scallops you see here are slightly spaced apart. I wanted the edges to remain distinct so that it’s easy to see what’s going on with each approach to scallops. So let’s look at some approaches to embroidering scallops (one of which is an utter failure). I’ll show you how to add a picot to the top of a scallop, no matter which approach you take.

I actually don't even have to worry about keeping my backstitching tidy at all because it will get covered up when I bind the edges of the quilt. They can be arranged vertically or horizontally along the scallops. Check out the Bead Embroidery Basics – 12 stitches you can use.

Al Capones family home sells for more than double the asking price Los Angeles Times

al capone house chicago

Today it’s a private residence, so it’s best not to go ringing the doorbell unless you’re looking to buy it. Capone's criminal history aside, this pistol is a fascinating little piece of American history. But the personal sidearm of one of America's most famous gangsters?

Homes And Hideouts Of 1920s Gangsters

A similar pocket watch made by the Illinois Watch Co. and owned by Capone sold for $84,375 at an auction in 2017. Experts say this sale of Capone items is unprecedented — bigger than a 1992 auction, which included the original Palm Island estate deed signed by Mae Capone. The names of his mother, Teresina Capone, and wife, Mae, were on the deed. Legend has it that there was at one time a tunnel connecting the house to Capone’s garage at the rear of the property. In Capone’s day, the gigantic pool rose and fell with the tide. Today, the water level is no longer tied to the ocean, but the swimming area is otherwise dazzling again.

Private Tour Coordinator and Tour Guide

With the 90th anniversary of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre right around the corner, we thought it was worth finding out which extant buildings were really a part of Al Capone’s Chicago. Plus, if you want to visit these sites several of them have some pretty awesome historic architecture, too. If you're sufficiently solvent, you too can bid on the auction of Al Capone's sidearm, a 1911 Colt .45 with what appear to be custom sights, on May 18th of this year. Capone’s name struck fear into the hearts of many, earning him a reputation as one of the most formidable and influential mob bosses in American history. "This gun was kind of his protection and I think it saved his life on a number of occasions and so he called it his sweetheart," said Diane Capone during an interview with CBS News ahead of that auction.

Sign up for Inside History

In 1934, officials relocated Capone to California's infamous big house, Alcatraz, where his insides were almost visited by a knife when an inmate tried to stab him. His bar-based abodes were certainly a lot less impressive than the residences he had become accustomed to on the outside. Not to be confused with his Miami or his Wisconsin homes, this is the house the Capone family moved into when they came to Chicago in August of 1923. A house recently put up for sale in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood looks like any other red, brick-built structure you'll see across the city, but this 2-flat is special -- it belonged to Al Capone. Though there are 16 firearms in the auction, only two belonged to Capone. The rest belonged to Capone’s son, Albert Francis (nicknamed “Sonny”), which are also among the lots.

What’s Left of the Site of the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre?

Chicago’s history is so fascinating, you could spend a lifetime uncovering its secrets…I’m willing to give it a try! In US History from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and then pursued doctoral studies in Urban History at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I love to learn new aspects of Chicago’s rich history and then share my knowledge as a tour guide with Chicago Detours.

It would not be at all surprising to see the sale price well over a million. Capone’s ascent to power was characterized by a ruthless demeanor and a penchant for violence. As the head of the Chicago Outfit, he wielded significant influence, extending his reach across various cities, including New York, Miami, and Las Vegas. Family, friends remember fallen CPD Officer Luis Huesca at funeral

He was able to use that dough to buy a palatial place in Miami, a massive mansion in New Jersey, and a comparatively modest brick two-flat in Chicago's Lincoln Park Manor neighborhood. Per the Inquirer, this humble Illinois home measured 2,820 square feet and had an apartment on each floor. Curbed Chicago writes that according to urban legend, the brick two-flat had a secret tunnel to his detached garage, but if it did exist, it no longer does. Capone would try to lie, bribe, and intimidate his way to freedom, but instead of returning to his own house, he went to the big house in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1931. Smithsonian writes that in his penitentiary he wielded a lot of power, receiving plenty of special favors and visitors.

Al Capone's Personal .45 Colt Up for Auction

It was here that Capone would meet both his future wife, Mary (Mae) Coughlin, and his mob mentor, numbers racketeer Johnny Torrio. Yes, the home that the infamous gangster Al Capone lived in is on the market. For a measly $225,000, you could own a piece of Chicago history. He died on the property in 1947, no longer the head of a crime empire. The mob boss bought his home on Miami Beach’s Palm Island waterfront the year before the massacre, in 1928.

It was a neighborhood of mom-and-pop grocery stores and kids tossing balls in their backyards — a world away from Capone’s glitzy headquarters, The Metropole Hotel at 23rd and South Michigan. The house on Prairie was Capone’s primary residence until he was sent to prison for tax evasion in 1931. His mother, Theresa, continued to live there until her death in the early 1950s. The saga of Al Capone continues to captivate the public imagination, immortalized in countless books, films, and television series. His larger-than-life persona, combined with his criminal exploits and eventual downfall, ensures his place as a legendary figure of the Prohibition era.

It had a heated pool, a cabana bar, and a European courtyards, which he probably enjoyed far more than prison bars and courthouses. Via CBS, Capone's Miami mansion sat on a 30,000-square-foot lot and had one of the biggest swimming pools in the city, a 60-foot by 30-foot behemoth. Capone spent the final years of his life in Miami, according to History, and according to anyone with eyes, he went out in style.

And if you’re a knife collector, then many belonging to Sonny are also up for sale. More than 70 years after his death, Al Capone’s legacy still carries some weight in the Windy City. The mobster’s former home in Chicago’s South Side just sold for $226,000 — more than twice the asking price of $109,900. Built in 1905, the six bedroom, two bath, 2,820 square foot building located on South Prairie in the city's Park Manor neighborhood has been on the market for years. "On November 26,1947, the ownership was transferred to Mafalda Maritote," Al Capone's sister, the building's listing states.

Binder, along with several business partners, owns more than 3,000 historic photos — most depicting people and places involved in Chicago’s organized crime scene. Capone bought the home in 1923 while working as the right-hand man to crime boss Johnny Torrio. He reportedly paid $5,500 for the two-flat brownstone and lived there with his wife and mother, whose names were on the deed, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Perhaps the building could have been saved, considering the vastly improving market conditions that took shape just years later - but we'll never know. After being released from Alcatraz in ill health because of paresis, a partial paralysis resulting from syphilis, he lived in the island house until his death in 1947. The onetime feared boss of the Chicago mob died of cardiac arrest in a guest room.

But despite its sumptuously appointed grounds, the resplendent home didn’t always see good times for its owner. For the better part of the decade between 1929 and 1939, Capone bounced between several prisons, including Alcatraz. Meanwhile, the syphilis he’d contracted years before started to get worse—bad enough that when he was released from Alcatraz, he immediately entered a hospital for brain treatment. When he finally returned to Florida, the man who is synonymous with Prohibition-era violence was far from the vigorous gangster we picture. The flashy, vicious Scarface who enjoyed the spotlight was losing his faculties.

In Kent State University’s online masters in UX, you’ll add to your portfolio with each course while you master the process, methodology and reasoning behind UX tools and techniques. Kent State has been helping students realize their dreams since 1910, and we launched our first online course almost 20 years ago.

In a UX design degree program, you can explore the various technologies, theories, and applications involved in researching, developing, designing, implementing, and enhancing how people use and interact with technology. Whether your interest is in design, development, analysis, network architecture, or research, understanding the connection between humans and technology can be beneficial for a variety of professions. You might also determine whether your employer offers an educational assistance or tuition reimbursement program, which could help offset the cost of your UX UI masters degree. Many technological and computer-related careers involve developing software, systems, apps, networks, and programs that will be used by other individuals. So, knowing how humans and technology interact can provide a professional advantage.

UX design salaries are dependent on many factors including position, job title, experience, education, and the employer. More experience can, of course, lead to higher pay and more opportunities for advancement. The program is based on campus for in-person learning in Pittsburg, PA, and can be completed in one year. The program also offers students the opportunity to work with a real-life client, which sets up students for success by having some material on their portfolio as they enter the job market. UX design degrees, especially master’s programs, come with a much higher price tag than a UX certification or UX bootcamp.

While there are no official requirements to be considered candidates for a UX design position, hiring managers usually look for at least a certification. Bachelor’s degrees in similar or related fields can often fulfill the requirements. This option is usually for students to learn more about a profession they may be interested in. UX design bootcamps usually take between four and six months to complete when taken at a full-time pace. These bootcamps often also provide education on a part-time basis to offer additional options for working students or those with other commitments.

Students in this graduate program work to understand how psychology affects decisions that users make, and then use that information to inform and create a better user experience. Graduates of the MS in Interaction Design and Information Architecture program at the University of Baltimore are heavily sought out by employers upon graduation. The MDIA graduate degree is one of the best interaction design masters programs available on the east coast. Students in the program benefit from working with professors who are managing research projects and are leading the charge in changing user experience in technology. The MS in Computer Science – Human-Centered Computing at the University of Colorado Boulder is designed to teach students how to create computer programs that are user friendly, and create a unique user experience. This program is known as one of the best interaction design masters programs, as it puts heavy emphasis on improving existing technology to improve user experience.

UX Design Bootcamp Reviews + Career Guide

Another flexible online option with a personal touch, the core track for Designlab’s UX Academy bootcamp is available part-time or full-time, preceded by a four-week Design 101 introduction. (Attendees with demonstrable design experience can apply to bypass the intro.) The course includes regular one-on-one video calls with a UX-pro mentor and calls for group critiques. Graduates then have up to six months of access to a career coach who assists with portfolio fine-tuning and offers interview guidance. Grads have gone on to work at Dell, Facebook, Sony and other major companies.

And how involved your mentor will be with your coursework and questions along the way. However, receiving personalized feedback on your work from a professional design mentor is one of the most powerful ways to grow as a new UX designer. Be realistic about how much time you have to study around work and other commitments, as well as your current level of knowledge against the intensity and rigor of the course. Because of the intense nature of the bootcamp format, you will likely face tight turnaround deadlines at some point that require focus and marathon-level commitment.

Individual courses

Finding a job may come easier since General Assembly has more than 19,000 hiring partners worldwide. You will graduate with a portfolio of individual, group, and client projects that showcase app, website, and product designs. Gain confidence using product data to design better, justify design decisions, and win stakeholders. If learning on your own with no (or minimal) feedback was ideal, then we could all become UX designers simply by watching YouTube videos and practicing design challenges online.

Whether you study full or part-time won’t make a huge difference in how well you learn the material or how successful you are in your career change. There are other aspects of the bootcamp experience that will definitely have that impact—mentorship being one of them. Whatever your current life situation, there’s a UX design bootcamp that will fit your schedule—especially if you’re open to an online program. Most bootcamps these days have remote learning options—whether those are in live and/or virtual classrooms or via a remote learning platform that allows you to study at your own pace. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, even the bootcamps that operate primarily in person are moving things online.

Best for intensive, accelerated learning experience

If you already have some design experience or a degree, a bootcamp is definitely the route for you. A bootcamp is less expensive, faster, and more tailored to your needs than a college degree. You’ll be hard pressed to find a degree program specifically for UX design. As of 2020 there is one Master’s program specifically for UX Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. We empower online academies to launch engaging learning experiences and improve learning outcomes through our social learning platform.

One Day In Naples From A Cruise Ship + Tips & Port Guide

naples cruise

These historic burial places are the oldest in the city and the largest in all of Southern Italy. Spend some time wandering around the different rooms to see how the rooms where the wealthy and poor were buried. I hope that it helps you have the best day in Naples on a cruise.

Cruise Lines Visiting Naples Cruise Port

In fact, it is no worse than many European cities, but there are less-safe areas. When exploring the Santa Lucia district or shopping on Via Toledo, you should exercise normal care -- do not put your camera down, leave your handbag open or flash your Rolex and you will be fine. The Centro Storico (historic center) is more bohemian and less predictable.

New Year’s Eve Cruises

It is situated 1.5 km/1 mile or a 20-minute walk from the Naples cruise port and is well worth visiting, as it is the oldest standing fortification in Naples built by the Normans in the 12th century. There is no entrance fee, and you can climb to its two towers and an observation deck from where you can take in the breathtaking views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius in the distance. For a quaint morning and afternoon on the water, enjoy one of the best Naples boat tours of Cape Romano! With a guide, you’ll explore one of the prettiest areas of the Ten Thousand Islands. Our “More Than Hors d’oeuvres” sunset cruises is a nice alternative to our dinner cruise, offering you a lighter more bite sized menu that can also be taken for some as a light dinner. You will enjoy freshly prepared hors d’oeuvres while cruising Naples Bay, the homes of Port Royal and weather permitting taking in the breathtaking sunset from the Gulf of Mexico.

With its 53-meter high dome and Greek-style columns, a large, monumental Basilica San Francesco di Paola (Church of Saint Francis) dominates Piazza del Plebiscito. The Basilica was built in the Neo-classical style and is reminiscent of Rome’s Pantheon. Simple, yet impressive, the interior of the church features valuable and beautiful architecture and artwork. Also known as Maschio Angioino Castle, Castel Nuovo is located at the exit of the cruise terminal area.

For more information about making the Naples Princess yours for your very special day, please visit our Wedding Page for more information. With choices like that, you can’t go wrong with either! Both boat tours include water, soda, beer, and white wine, so there’s something for everyone.

Everglades Excursions offers half-day Everglades tours that depart from Naples and Marco Island, and there is an airboat ride included in the excursion. Located on the opposite side of the Gulf of Naples, about 50 km/31 miles from the port of Naples, Sorrento is a magnificent cliffside town and a popular tourist resort on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Sorrento boasts a scenic coastline, gorgeous landscapes, and a multitude of colorful houses, and is widely known for its wood-carving traditions, ceramics, marquetry, and lacework shops. It takes only 2-3 hours to visit Herculaneum, which is an ideal option for a half-day trip.

This particular sunset cruise is offered at a fantastic price point, so you can experience the beauty of an SW Florida sunset without the sticker shock. Smaller in size than Pompeii, but equally wealthy, Herculaneum was a popular resort town and seaside destination for many Roman patrician families. The most famous ones are the pedestrian streets Via Toledo and Via Chiaia – they are both located a 15-minute walking distance from the port and they meet at Piazza del Plebiscito and Fontana del Carciofo. They are super crowded and packed with countless shops, restaurants, bars, and pizzerias offering mouth-watering pizzas, panzerotti, pasta, and other Italian authentic dishes. Also known as Duomo di San Gennaro or the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, it is the main church of Naples completed in the 14th century in honor of Saint Januarius, the patron saint of the city. It is located 2 km/1.2 miles or a 25-minute walk from the Naples cruise port.

The luxurious and newly renovated Naples Princess is ideal for anything and everything relating to your wedding in Naples, including your engagement party, rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception. You can also commemorate with your spouse on our romantic sunset dinner cruises, or you can arrange a private charter. Reserve our Captain’s Lounge, one of our three panoramic view decks, or the entire yacht – depending on the size of your group.

We have never been to Naples before and what a memory we will have from this cruise. The sights were spectacular and the crew was top notch. The sunset on the Gulf was stunningly beautiful and very romantic.

By keeping these essential tips in mind, cruisers can navigate Naples with confidence, soaking in the rich history, delicious cuisine, and vibrant street life that this magnificent Italian city has to offer. Dive into the heart of Naples, a city where every street, landscape, and corner tells a story, offering a multitude of experiences for every type of traveler. The captain does a light narration of the history of the area and if you are lucky you will get up close and personal with many wildlife. Keep your camera handy and maybe you will spot marine animals and soaring seabirds, making this the most enticing sightseeing and wildlife watching around. Naples owns a bad reputation for pickpockets and muggers.

Choose between Porta Nolana or Garibaldi stations, from where you can catch the Circumvesuviana or Campania Express train services. Whilst this is a hassle-free way of getting around Naples, the city’s traffic is legendary and there’s every chance that you will spend a chunk of your time in congested streets. There is a bus stop outside the terminal, adjacent to Castel Nuovo that you’ll spot upon exiting the terminal building. It’s worth going underground to take a look at the multicoloured Toledo metro station, considered to be the most beautiful in Europe. Day tickets offering unlimited journeys are also available.

Enjoy a selection of wine, beer, water and sodas from our onboard bar as well as a variety of snacks to enhance your trip. Miss Naples is also available for private charters, corporate gatherings and weddings. The event team is ready and waiting to help plan your perfect event handling all the details to make it easy and convenient on you. Whether you’re on vacation, celebrating a special occasion, or just looking for a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting, you’ll thoroughly enjoy your experience on our lunch buffet cruises. In addition to our regular mid-afternoon Sightseeing Cruises, we offer sightseeing-only cruising options on any of our regular public cruises listed on this page. So, come join us at lunchtime or sunset, even if you want to skip the meal and just take a relaxing boat ride.

Celebrity Summit Review: A Refreshed Cruise Ship

celebrity cruise summit reviews

As soon as we were on the ship, we were directed to our muster station where we quickly checked in and were sent on our way. A few short months ago, Celebrity Summit was a ship that had seen better days. Directly outside the spa is the solarium, offering a thalassotherapy pool and complimentary healthy eating options at the Spa Cafe. These days, most midsize ships tend to be big on through-the-decade type shows, and Celebrity is no different.

Celebrity Summit Bars

We found that there was plenty of room in the closet and drawers to store our clothing and other items, and while the bathroom was small, there was ample space for toiletries. Concierge Level is another option you can choose when booking a room. AquaClass is another perk level that includes access to the onboard restaurant Blu, complimentary access to the Persian Garden in the spa, a spa concierge, and special in-room amenities. First time Celebrity cruisers (we have traveled 5 times on Disney and 1 on Viking Ocean). This has always been an itinerary we have been interested in and it did not disappoint. It's very much and adult and upscale feel in the rooms and public areas - understated and nice.

Change the way you experience the world aboard Celebrity Summit. The forward-facing Sky Lounge on deck 11 is a great multi-purpose space. While it serves as the nightclub after dark, during the day the floor-to-ceiling windows and comfortable seating make it a great place to chillax.

The Grand Foyer and Cafe Al Bacio

celebrity cruise summit reviews

In conjunction with Celebrity’s partnership with the Canyon Ranch Spa, the revitalized spa promotes healthy living and wellness. You’ll find a variety of massages and treatments offered, along with beauty services. People often ask how “lively” the ship is as the night progresses.

What was not refurbished on the Celebrity Summit?

More often than not, it’s simply a matter of changing the general look of the cabins instead of making sweeping changes. Perhaps nowhere is the before-and-after transformation Summit underwent during the March drydock more evident than in the Cosmopolitan restaurant — aka the main dining room. Some changes here are small (like the dark supporting beams being painted white). If you have a chance to go to the Captain’s Talk (was on the last sea day on our cruise), definitely do so. It was extremely informative a great way to spend some time during our sea day.

The Solarium Pool

During the Nassau port day and our day at sea, we spent most of our time on the pool deck and in the adult-only Solarium. While these areas were all busy every day, there were plenty of chairs and lots of room in the pools whenever we looked. Summit also offers something rarely seen on cruise ships, thanks to Celebrity’s partnership with the American Ballet Theater. Rounding out the collection of bars is the Rooftop Terrace, which is on the aft of deck 12 and reminds me of nothing so much as one of those great rooftop bars you find in New York City.

We departed Cozumel around 4 pm and cruised overnight to George Town, Grand Cayman. If you’ve ever been to the George Town port, you’ll know you must tender into port. Their educational programs range from STEM programs to sailing basics.

Where does Celebrity Summit sail to?

The interior design was refreshed, and the hull changed from white to royal blue. Overall, Celebrity Summit makes for a relaxing yet fun cruise experience, where food and cocktails take center stage, and Instagram-worthy moments abound. The crew, who are outgoing, engaging and committed, further elevate the experience, with plenty of senior staff engaging with passengers (photos with the captain, anyone?).

Cabin Review

celebrity cruise summit reviews

If I booked another trip, I would also book the concierge level and the all-inclusive package again. As a group sailing together, we generally look for a variety of different activities that appeal to each of us. We enjoyed trivia, game shows, a slot tournament, and more.

It’s fair to say that the ship was due — maybe even overdue — for a freshening up. While Summit was a cutting-edge ship at the time of her 2001 launch, that was (hard as it is to believe) 22 years ago. Our stateroom attendant was attentive and did a great job. All of this will be in the next part of the cruise review.

These activities cater to guests of all ages, so you’ll never find yourself without something to do. You can schedule a variety of luxury spa treatments like massages, facials, or hair and nail appointments. However, expect to pay much more than for the same experience back home. The dancing and singing were okay, at best, and the music/show choices could have been of higher quality. I could chalk it up to a personal preference, as there were plenty of guests making their way to the theater each night.

I purchased premium internet for one of my sea days to get some work done, and it worked well, although sometimes it lagged. There are also hot tubs surrounding the pool deck for when the evenings get a little chilly. If you want to escape the sun, head to the indoor solarium for pool or hot tub time in the shade. The outdoor pools have high-energy fun, live music, and games. There are tons of lounge chairs and cabanas to hang out in.

Though it went by quickly, it was the perfect length for a winter getaway. Give yourself plenty of time between leaving and your excursion. The tenders can get backed up, and you may encounter crowds at the port. Cozumel is a very small Caribbean Island off the shore of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Beach bars intermingle with nightclubs, and the laidback lifestyle mixed with the ritzy nightclubs that attract the rich and famous from all around the world create an interesting dichotomy. To truly experience the culture of Miami, you should explore the city at night. Many of Miami’s most popular nightclubs are in South Beach, located on the tip of Miami Beach. The white-sand coastline provides a gorgeous setting for the hip clubs, restaurants, and hotels that have made Miami one of the hottest nightclub areas in the world. Soak up the sun along the shore and admire the Art Deco gems along lively Ocean Drive.

The currency accepted in Miami is the U.S. dollar, and you’ll be able to find ATMs dispensing U.S. dollars all over the city. Tipping is very common and expected in Miami, especially in restaurants, bars, and taxis. A common tip for restaurants, taxis, and most other services is 15% to 20% of the total amount. When it comes to drinks, you’ll likely be able to find your favorite libation at one of the many bars and nightclubs lining the streets of Miami Beach. However, if you want to try a local specialty, look for a mojito or a Miami Vice. Due to its wet, humid climate, gardens in Miami are able to prosper into lush, beautiful landscapes.

Whether it’s a short cruise to the Bahamas or a longer sailing around the islands of the Caribbean, Miami is an exciting departure port for an unforgettable cruise. If you forgot your memory card, lost your battery or are urged to purchase a new camera on your cruise, your best bet is to shop in port. If you are on a ship that has what you're looking for, be prepared to spend more than you would on land.

Each night, my stateroom attendant replenished towels and brought flyers and schedules for the next day.

And watching the sun rise over the Caribbean Sea from the comfort of my room was the best part. The window was equipped with an electronic shade that could be opened during the day for grand views and closed when I was ready to sleep. Skinny nightstands on either side of the bed held lamps, charging ports, and a room phone on one side. I thought it was the most relaxing area on the ship, so I enjoyed being close by. During my voyage, the ship sailed to Roatán, Honduras; Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico; and Royal Caribbean's private island in the Bahamas. Onboard Internet plans are available for purchase but can be pricey, often charging you by the amount of data you use.

How can I see proofs of photos taken onboard?

Visitors of all ages will be wowed by the Sea Trek Reef Encounter, an underwater walking path through the aquarium. A walk down Calle Ocho will give you a good taste of all that Little Havana has to offer, from cuisine to bars and souvenirs. Visit El Credito Cigar Factory, where you can see how they roll cigars in Cuba. If you really want to experience the Latin culture in Little Havana, time your cruise from Miami so you can be in Miami before or after your sailing on the last Friday of the month. On this day each month, a street party is held in Little Havana called Viernes Cultural that features an array of music performers, dancers, Cuban cuisine, and theater performances. Opt for Brightline+ services, designed to take you from train to cruise ship—or vice versa—with zero hassle.

Take pictures in front of colorful colonial buildings located in the town’s historic districts. Ride a cable car—the only one in all of the Dominican Republic—up to the top of Mount Isabel de Torres and enjoy unrivaled views of this charming port city. With its beautiful beaches, pulsating nightlife, and culture-filled neighborhoods, Miami is one of the most popular destinations in the United States. Visitors from all over the world flock here to enjoy its Art Deco buildings and romantic palm tree-lined streets filled with fantastic restaurants before embarking on cruises from Miami. Cruise towards Geiranger fjord on a beautiful day with views of the Norweigan mountains from the open promenade deck of the ship, Norway.

Photo and video uploads can quickly eat up your allotted data. Also, connection speeds vary by cruise line and ship, so you need to determine if paying the fee is worth the risk of spotty Wi-Fi and slow upload times.

Some ships even offer tours of the bridge (where the captain operates the ship) with opportunities to take pictures. For example, Princess, Holland America, Celebrity and Crystal offer photography classes onboard their ships on some itineraries. Classes vary but typically focus on areas such as digital photography and photo editing. Cruise ship photographers offer private sessions for anyone interested in unique options, such as posing in different locations throughout the ship or with props in a photo studio or in port. There's generally no studio fee or expectation to buy for studio portraits taken onboard the ship, but it's best to check with the photography staff before your session begins.

Tropical bliss awaits in the Bahamas, where you’ll spend a day lounging on powdery white sand and dipping in warm turquoise waters. Sample some of the best rum in the world, feast on the freshest of seafood, or go snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea, where you’ll see colorful schools of fish and sea turtles. Otherwise, you and your camera have free reign, unless asked by a uniformed crew member not to photograph something.
